An Exclusive Interview with Priyatosh Dey
[mashshare align="right"]Priyatosh Dey is a doctor by profession, photographer by passion. Photography is his childhood hobby. However, he took it seriously for the last 5-6 years. Though he gets very little time, but he is passionate to travel, and take photographs.
In this “Exclusive Interview” section, today we have the opportunity to talk with Priyatosh Dey, as his photograph was winner of Photo of the Month – 25th Month, 3nd Place. Let’s discover more about Priyatosh Dey, and his forays into photography in the following interview with him.
L&C: Your photographs, “Way to Home”, was selected as Photo of the Month, is a beautiful artistic photographs with artistic perspective, correct lighting, and very well presented. Overall, they are great composition! Tell us more about your experience of taking these two photographs.
Priyatosh: This photo was taken near the Raidhak riverside, in a glowing evening. I was there to capture the setting sun, but after so many takes I did not find the suitable one with a different perspective. Then suddenly I saw a guy with cycle coming quietly, on the way to his home. I left the road, got down, and clicked, just like I was looking for.
think for the content, may be for the moment also. It was always fascinating for anyone whose creativity appreciated by other artist. My journey for photography wasn’t so easy, as my profession demands a lot of time. I start clicking from childhood after took it from my friend but took it seriously for about 5-6 years. I have some friends who shared the common hobby, photography. Those friend helped me lot to improve my work, they criticize my pictures to make them better one. And also many photographic sites including Light & Composition enriched me with wonderful photo, discussion, highly fascinating. Earlier I believed that photography was liked just click and share, but after getting deep into this field I do believe I only learnt very little thing like a glass of water from the sea.
L&C: We see so many different genres of photography in your portfolio. Do you like a particular genre of photography?
Priyatosh: Actually I like to take every kind of picture which has its own beauty, especially those pictures that are masked in daily life but when showcased as pictures, they draw the attention of everybody.
Priyatosh: First of all one must see plenty of pictures to improve the visualisation. I also started the same way, taking haphazard pictures, and then processing them in a bizarre way. But after few years, the picture that once I thought is a very good one seemed ordinary. Likewise today’s good pictures may not be very good in future, as the taste is changes & one has learnt the art of photography a bit more. It really worked for me to take better photos.L&C: Priyatosh, have you ever exhibited your work? If so, then tell us about your first exhibiting experience.
Priyatosh: No, the time has not come yet; wish one day I would get the chance to exhibit my work.
Priyatosh: No, I’m not attached with any organization yet. I wish to make our very own photographic club with my fellow photographer friends in Cooch Behar.
Priyatosh:Don’t expect each photograph to get awarded. Love your hobby. One must know his/her camera very well. Do some study, and see large numbers of photographs daily around the world.
