In front of Jamdani Sharee shop, inside the Sonargaon Folk Art and Culture Museum, I found some weavers were weaving sharee. They were sitting before their rickety looms and working on what was once the prized possession of every Bangalee woman, the hand-woven Jamdani. Patterns like these have been a source of Bengal’s pride for more than thousands of years. It is one of the most time and labor intensive forms of hand loom weaving. Here in Sonargoan, they sell these to visitors, or tourist who come to visit Museum and Panam city, and also supply those to Jamdani houses in Dhaka.

With the highest number of Photo of the Month and Photo of the Day Awards, Shahnaz joined Light and Composition as Contributing Photographer from March 2013. Covering upheaval, conflict, places, people, and culture, she was one of the top most contributors from South Asia until 2015.
