Nueva York by Madoka Hori
My second visit to Mecca for romance, Tiffany store on 5th Avenue was on a rainy Sunday. The store was crowded. The city was filled with shoppers and tourists like myself. I went on a business trip to New York City in early December, stayed for the weekend and experienced breathtakingly beautiful city, completely decorated for holidays. On the 3rd floor of Tiffany, I walked around looking jewelries and lots of happy faces. I looked outside from the window and knew I had to pull the camera out of my purse to steal this view and bring it back to Japan.

Madoka Hori’s first camera was a toy she got in Singapore when she was on a family trip at age 4. She could press shutter release button, use flash, change filters to see the world differently and it amazed her. She knew it could be fun to hold a (real) camera someday rather than just being the subject of her father’s photography all the time. She started to take photos during high school and after she shifted to digital when she was 20, it got a lot easier for her to capture the moment she wanted to remember. Now she primarily uses Olympus Pen E-P2 and occasionally experiments with her father’s NIKON D800. Travelling and looking at people on the street through a lens is the most exciting thing for her. Feel free to contact her if you have any advice on photography or just want to know about Japan. She’s 27 years old and working for online marketing start-up.
