with Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron

Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron’s life is a story of perseverance and redemption. Born in Puerto Rico, he grew up with a desire to explore the world and make a name for himself. However, when he moved to the United States, he found himself facing a harsh reality that he never could have imagined. The streets were unforgiving, and alcohol and drugs were always present. Greetings from Light & Composition University,Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron. How does it feel being selected as the winner of Photo of the Month, March 2021, 1st Place?

Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron

I feel excited and honored to be selected from thousands of photographers at Light and composition University. I would never think I would be selected first place. I want to thank the whole team for an excellent and dedication to all the photographers.

Your photograph “Alone on a Bridge” won the 1st Place in the Photo of the Month – March 2021, is a wonderful Close-Up photograph, with artistic perspective, correct lighting, and very well presented. Overall, a great composition! Tell us more about your experience of taking this photograph.

The experience that I had was amazing; I went to the beach in a cool and windy day and my nephew, and we were walking through a long bridge to the Island in Clearwater Beach in Florida. The windy and cool day was what it made it special, if the temperature was not like that probably the photo would not be the same.

Yes, and definitely yes, I am proud of my work, because people around the world loved my photos and stories so much, that they have had posted a review in the photographs.

How do you see your journey to the world of photography so far?

My journey has been exiting so far because I have been traveling to different places around the world to meet different cultures, race and people. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

As we know, you are originally from USA. Do you think the rich diverse cultural and artistic heritage of USA portrayed a different essence to you?

Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron

As you already know I am from the tropical Island of Puerto Rico, raised in the forest where there are high mountains and waterfalls in the back of our small houses, also a river where we must hike down to get to, plantain and bananas trees, avocado, oranges, and guavas. This was the best times in my life living in this paradise. I believe this place was what made developed visualization for photography.

Do you like a particular genre of photography and if so, why?

Yes, I enjoy taking photographs of people and their reactions, people in the streets, people in the beach, concerts, poor and not so poor. Definitely, I love documentary and street photography, because I love the culture, race and everything that God created in a person.

Have you ever exhibited your work? If so, then tell us about your first exhibiting experience.

I have exhibited my work in some social media, it has not been the best experience; however, I am still working on that.

Are you involved with any photography organizations? How does this help you in your photography?

Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron

I have been approved to cover in concerts and events. It is not very easy to get approved for that; however, I been approved four or five times, this has helped me developed techniques and gain experience.

One of the keys to any style of photography is visualization. Please tell us how you started this process and what you did afterwards.

Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron

I started here in Light and Composition University. This online school was the first one in my life to learn photography. I remember the first course I took, ” The Black Box with a Hole”, it showed me how to visualize a moment and freeze it for the rest of the life. I kept applying my tools to keep this visualization going.

What advice would you give our readers who want to take part in the journey around the world with Photo of the Day?

Jose Juniel Rivera-Negron

Just have fun with it, passion, travel, but more than anything, love what you do, because working for success will make you a Master but working for satisfaction will make you a Legend.
