Central Park Tunnel, by Christopher Utano

Photo was taken in Central Park NYC in 2009. I noticed the strong lines in the bricks overhead and seen potential for a good black and white composition. I switched to my 10-20mm lens to get as much of the lines in the shot as possible. I waited for someone to approach the tunnel from the other side to give the photo added depth and lead the eyes to a subject.

I love the style of this photograph. The high contrast, deep blacks and bright whites add to the drama of the photograph. The patterns, simplicity and symmetry add to the story and the sense of depth you get from the leading lines is impressive. Great photo. Well done!

    I love this!

Great compsition with the lead-in in the top of the picture.

Taking the shot with the person slightly off centre stepping into the picture from the light works perfectly.

I’m glad you resisted the temptation to HDR the background and keep it pure white light.

    Nice one.
