Cactus Island Glimpse, by Nilla Palmer
From within a tiny dark cave on Cactus Island, a crack reveals glimpses of the salt flat typically dry this time of year. Heavy snowfalls and melting ice covered this expansive 10,582 square km (4,086 sq mi) vista turning this elevated parched terrain into a perfect symmetrical lake.

Nilla Palmer’s natural desire to travel and photograph many parts of the world started 27 years ago, although her photography addiction started with her first 110mm film camera as a child. This eventually progressed to 35mm cameras as a teenager and a photography course, which also taught B&W darkroom techniques. Later, more study in Communications Design and Multimedia increased her desire to experiment further with composition and light.
Nilla’s intent is to reveal a story through her images for an audience, which she hopes inspires and encourages people to visit far off lands. Without a strict genre that she adheres to, Nilla captures whatever strikes her at a precise moment. Although her work includes a variety of themes, capturing the essence of a candid moment is her passion; an unguarded second in a frozen in time. She invites everyone to enjoy her gallery and feel free to contact her with any comments.
