Perito Moreno Glacier, by Nilla Palmer
Glimpses through the trees of this 250km (97sq mi) ice formation captivate the heart. A small boat takes you across the icy sea to the start of a mesmerising journey where crampons are strapped on for the controlled trek on top of this glacier. In driving rain, icy hues change as sporadic as the random swirling weather.

Photo of the Day Award Category: Landscape Photography
Photograph Location: Los Glaciares National Park | Argentina
Photographer: Nilla Palmer (Brisbane, Australia) Registered
Nilla Palmer’s natural desire to travel and photograph many parts of the world started 27 years ago, although her photography addiction started with her first 110mm film camera as a child. This eventually progressed to 35mm cameras as a teenager and a photography course, which also taught B&W darkroom techniques. Later, more study in Communications Design and Multimedia increased her desire to experiment further with composition and light.
Nilla’s intent is to reveal a story through her images for an audience, which she hopes inspires and encourages people to visit far off lands. Without a strict genre that she adheres to, Nilla captures whatever strikes her at a precise moment. Although her work includes a variety of themes, capturing the essence of a candid moment is her passion; an unguarded second in a frozen in time. She invites everyone to enjoy her gallery and feel free to contact her with any comments.
