Lilac Breasted Roller, by Claudio Bacinello
The Lilac Breasted Roller is the national bird of Botswana. This image was captured while on safari there. I was traveling on a boat along the Chobe River when I saw several of these beautifully coloured birds chasing away a much larger eagle which was trying to get at the smaller bird’s nest. After successfully defending the nest, this one bird dettled to rest and I was able to capture a few images of which this is my favourite.
