Nervous Wreck, by Stephen Chu
The sky was cloudy, wet with lots of drizzle and it was cold and windy! … My friends had helped me move back to Toronto and I was to be their tour guide so I decided to bring my North Carolina USA friends to see The Bluffs. It’s an escarpment that stands above the shoreline of Lake Ontario with the highest point it rising 90 meters above the coastline and spanning a length of 15 kilometers. At the top we hop a fence that is suppose to secure our safety as we crept to the edge to view natures grandeur when this couple leisurely strolls past me. I grab a couple of shots as I normally would and turn away for a nano second when out of my right ear I faintly hear “Oh My God !”. I turn real quick to see the man crouching down and my natural instincts took hold and I ran to over and started clicking as if it was a planned proposal shoot.with no time to adjust my settings. {full sequence on Fb} It was a double surprise, to the couple and from the lady as she quizzed her boyfriend turned fiance’ “who are these people!?, Did you hire them?” … I told her who I was and gave them my info and as we spoke her fiance said he was a complete nervous wreck. I felt so fortunate and extremely happy to be there at such an intimate and joyous fleeting moment that It was a moment of divine serendipity ! ….

‘Expressions, serendipitous, emotional, urban, beautiful, RAW, present’ … that’s what Stephen Chu says … Having lived in the USA for many years, this Toronto native returned to his hometown of Canada in 2016. As a well-traveled, past photography club event organizer he considers himself a lifelong student of the world. Unafraid and willing to try everything at least once he’s a foodie at heart loving all that is ethnic and diverse. He has a tremendous observational love for all of humanity’s quirks, foibles’ and emotions – what surrounds and encompasses society, something we call life. Purest in the sense, through his mind’s eye, he clicks at the RAW, as it happens and documents the moments that whispers in the wind. His compassion for those who possess less exceeds his own passion for reality. Ultimately he strives to imbue into his images a sense of humanity and through many years of continual training, honing his skills and practicing through the lens. As he journeys on this train, he’ll continue to strive and capture in his mind’s eye, the world and it’s never ending rotation we call life.
