Blizzard, by Nilla Palmer

Nestled at the base of the stunning Tatras Mountains, Zakopane is renown as Poland’s winter capital. Many winter activities are on offer on the outskirts of this very beautiful town, including skiing and gorgeous mountain treks amongst incredible postcard scenery.

Doing your daily shopping or even just walking to the local store can prove hazardous during a blizzard, which can strike at any time in Zakopane during the winter months. With only my Panasonic camera on this particular day, the walk back from the store resulted in walking through a blizzard. Although difficult with groceries in both hands, I couldn’t resist taking a photo of the striking white path that was unfolding.

When not travelling to far-flung countries experiencing what she loves, travel and photography, Nilla Palmer lives in Brisbane, Australia and works as a Technical Writer and Freelance Photographer. Relocating to Italy for a while, Nilla is working on expanding her travel portfolio.
Nilla’s intrigue with photography started at a young age with a 110mm film camera. The images that resulted from this tiny box, created an addiction and passion. Working in an Old Time studio, shooting portraits on an old Hasselblad flatbed camera, saw Nilla photographing individuals and groups of up to 20 and more in period costume. This experience taught Nilla a symbiotic relationship with people and the camera.

With a lust to travel, Nilla donned her first backpack at an early age and spent a year backpacking around the world, which cemented her passion for photography and travel. Striving to experience and capture a great part of the world for all to enjoy, Nilla hopes her images inspire people to venture further than the security of their own home!
