A Butterfly in Color, by Ryszard Wierzbicki
When sightseeing Siquijor Island in Philippines it is a must to visit the Butterfly Sanctuary managed by a passionate family who set up their private Butterflies Kingdom. A variety of butterfly species and a play of colours, scents and sounds will make your visit unforgettable. The Butterfly Sanctuary is located close to the highest point on the island at Cang-apa village which is just east of Mt Bandilaan (628m altitude). The entire Butterfly Farm spans a total of 1,460 square meters (equivalent to 5 hectares) land area. It composes of a botanical garden as huge as entire space. It houses 102 species (as per record) of butterflies and moths that feed from the garden itself. The Sanctuary is popular with children largely because you can actually get close and personal with the butterflies. The attraction remains a popular destination but opinion is divided as to whether it is worth the long trip as the sanctuary needs some upgrades but the journey to this destination is truly spectacular and you will get a really good views of the ocean from higher elevations.
