The Sydney Aquarium buzzed with the excitement of discovery, and the wonder wasn’t limited to the kids! I was there with my wide-eyed grandchildren, patiently introducing them to the wonders of underwater photography with my old DSLR. But it was the mesmerizing jellyfish exhibit that truly captivated us all. These ethereal creatures seemed to float effortlessly through the darkened tanks, their translucent forms pulsating with vibrant colors. Each flick of their chunky tentacles was a silent dance, casting an almost hypnotic spell. It was a scene that begged to be captured, both for my grandchildren and for myself. Armed with my mirrorless camera, I joined the kids in their photographic exploration. We experimented with angles, shutter speeds, and even dared to break the traditional mold by trying black and white. The results were stunning! The colors, when captured, were mesmerizing, but the black and white rendition offered a stark, almost graphic, beauty that highlighted the jellyfish’s otherworldly form.
