Cathedrals of the Rails by Wilfried Claus
Leipzig station is the largest terminus station in Europe in terms of area. 23 tracks are located under the huge roof made of steel and glass. The station was once described as a “cathedral for the railway”. Despite the heavy iron construction, the steel frame looks almost filigree and the glass roof lets in so much light from the midday sun that long shadows are created on the platforms.
