This was the beginning of my exploration of the slums in the Smoky Mountain area. Smoky Mountain is a well-known district that is located on a garbage dump and has a characteristic view of the surrounding areas. I decided to do this trip on a one-day stopover in Manila. I hired a taxi driver for the day and we drove to the Smoky Mountain area. We met this gentleman at the very entrance to a narrow street “cut” out of a town cobbled together from corrugated iron and cardboard. He greeted us with a Victoria gesture.
The Fallen Rose by Suraj Krishnamurthy Cheemangala
This photo was taken on a crisp fall evening with my Samsung Galaxy S20+. I noticed the road covered with fallen leaves, each representing the season's change. Inspired, I took a rose from a bouquet I had given to my wife and placed it gently among the dry leaves. The contrast between the fresh rose and the withered leaf symbolizes the full circle of life—decay and renewal, all captured in the serene setting of a park.
