I was walking through midtown running errands. This part of NYC has large fancy office buildings and is close to the Theater District and Radio City Music Hall. I was struck by this gentleman's demeanor and disheveled dress in contrast to the fancy buildings around him. Obviously, he was homeless.

We were staying in that village for 6 days for the NSS camp. What are the routines of the people there, and how many people live in the village? How many houses are there? What are the problems of the people? Getting all this information was our first task. During that time I met this uncle. On whose right stood his 5-year-old grandson and granddaughter. The picture that emerged at that time was sitting in front of my eyes, wrinkles of fifty years on one side of it and five years of dreams standing on the other side.
