Art in The Tunnel by Wilfried Claus
The pedestrian tunnel crosses under the two tracks of the small station of Pulheim, a medium-sized town west of Cologne. The special feature of the tunnel is located on the side walls: an art installation by Sigrid Lange, an artist from North Rhine-Westphalia. The frieze of pictures shows individual people brought to the fore as walkers or jogging or similar, just like the two passers-by with dogs coming towards the photographer. As in many other cities, graffiti defaces the white walls.
Navigating Lifes Crossroads by Wilfried Claus
A young couple comes towards us in a pedestrian tunnel, only a few millimeters between their hands. Coincidence? A couple or none (yet)? We don't know. In the shadow of the tunnel, the two look almost shadowy like silhouettes. Very similar to the people depicted on a frieze of pictures on the side walls of the tunnel – photographed doing sports or going for a walk. The picture frieze is an art installation by Sigrid Lange, an artist from North Rhine-Westphalia. Through the tunnel belonging to the Pulheim station you reach the other side of the platform of the double-track railway line.
The Abandoned Bicycle by Wilfried Claus
The concrete-dominated, unadorned railway underpass is part of the station in Pulheim, a medium-sized town west of Cologne. The numerous mounted bike racks are hardly used despite the morning rush hour, obviously because the atmosphere here is quite uncomfortable and parking the bikes in this remote place is hardly theft-proof. A planning mistake on the part of the city? The individual bicycle makes the abandonment of the place clear.
