Embark on a journey that took an unexpected turn, as captured in this evocative photograph. Initially set for a sunflower field, our day took a twist with the weather turning sour, and the planned destination closing its doors due to the sudden change. Undeterred, we ventured into the mountains, where fog enveloped the surroundings and the weather worsened. Amidst the gloom, we stumbled upon a captivating garden, bursting with vivid flowers and meticulous landscaping.

Wandering through the vibrant flowerbeds at Auburn Botanic Garden, these clusters of purple caught my eye! Their rich color instantly drew me in, and I knew I wanted to capture their beauty. To really make these beauties pop, I focused on using a shallow depth of field. This technique keeps the front flowers nice and sharp, while blurring the background into a dreamy bokeh effect. I love how it creates a sense of depth and draws the viewer's eye right into the center of the frame. The blurred background hints at the abundance of flowers throughout the garden, while the sharp foreground lets you appreciate the delicate details of these purple blooms.

Breenhold Gardens: Capturing the Colors of Autumn by Leanne Lindsay

Imagine this: crisp air nipping at your cheeks, the crunch of fallen leaves underfoot, and a kaleidoscope of color exploding before your eyes. That's exactly what greeted me when I finally made it to the legendary Breenhold Gardens in the heart of autumn. This photo captures the very essence of that magical day. A lone figure, dwarfed by the trees cloaked in fiery reds walks in the clearing, his back to us, a canvas for our own interpretations. Are they lost in the beauty of the landscape, or simply taking a moment to soak it all in? The umbrella, a riot of autumnal colors itself, shelters their head and shoulders, adding a touch of mystery. You can almost hear the rustle of wind through the branches, the symphony of nature playing its farewell song to summer and beckoning Winter. The breathtaking beauty of Breenhold Gardens is a reminder that sometimes, the most extraordinary journeys are the ones we take to witness the simple magic of the world around us.
