Bombay Beach Sunset, by Mickey Strider
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Mickey Strider got his first taste of film making by taking first runner up honors at the Baltimore County Film Festival with a stop motion animation short, “The Coo Coo Conspiracy” in 6th Grade. He later studied art at the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art and an advertising career soon followed. Mickey currently resides in San Diego, CA and as Director of Broadcast at ViTRO, he has produced TV and Web campaigns for Asics (Cannes Silver Lion 2012, One Show Bronze Pencil 2012, FWA Site of the Day 2012), Newcastle Brown Ale (Cannes Shortlist 2010, FWA Site of the Day, 2011 Webby Award), IHOP, Kwikset, Alaska Communications, PF Chang’s and Quickie/Lysol. Mickey also continues his art and photography pursuits as well. In the past year his photographs have been selected for exhibitions across the country including the 1650 Gallery in Los Angeles, Linus Gallery in Pasadena, CA, Rockport Center for the Arts in Rockport, TX and has been included in two exhibitions at Maryland Federation of Art’s Circle Gallery in Annapolis, MD. His photo Bombay Beach Sunset was awarded in the Photo of the Day contest in the category of Sunrise & Sunset Photography, as it scored a solid 69 (Value 13, Clarity 13, Composition 17, Style 13, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5. The number of Tweets, Facebook shares, and StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 5.7125 from social media (Facebook Share 4.95, Tweets 0.55, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.0125, and Comments 0.2), and in total 74.7125, the highest score in this competition in the 38th Month. We will publish a special interview with Mickey Strider in the Photographer with Style section of the magazine, and the Exclusive Interview section on our website.Based on the social media responses, awarded photographs received on the 38th month, we set the maximum number of Facebook Like at 200, Tweet at 100, Stumble at 2000, and our subscribers Comments at 50. For this month, we had a head-to-head contest between the top scorers and the photographs that scored the highest became winners of the Photo of the Month. Our team decided to honor these top scorers as 2nd and 3rd places with a page in the next issue of our magazine, where the photographers will share their stories of these photographs. Hang in There! by Jana Z
Jana Z began flirting with photography in 2010 when she realized that taking trips and walks are much more interesting with a camera in her hands. She had moved from Slovenia to Switzerland, and wanted to capture all the new landscape, nature and people that she had been meeting. Jana started with an Olympus e420, but later adopted a new pet, Nikon D700. Jana Z’s photograph Hang in There! in the category of Travel Photography scored 67.5 (Value 12.5, Clarity 12.5, Composition 17.5, Style 12.5, Skill 12.5) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. Fish Monger, by Keith Goldstein
Keith Goldstein was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1957. Keith was interested in art for as long as he can remember, with his mother being his biggest influence and supporter, encouraging him in his earliest artistic endeavors. Keith’s first connection with photography came about in high school when he was given a collection of photography magazines to draw from. His photograph Fish Monger in the category of Street Photography scored 68 (Value 12, Clarity 12.5, Composition 18, Style 12.5, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. Dholma is Her Name, by Karan Zadoo
Born in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir photographer Karan Zadoo came to Delhi with his parents as a young boy. After getting educated in Delhi and taking a job with an advertising agency the life of marketing executive and the harshness of a job with little love returned was the turning point in his life. Karan left his agency, returned home and left for a long vacation to the hills (Himalaya). That’s where he realized his love in exploring new things getting close to nature or any beautiful unexplored or explored travel destination. Karan Zadoo’s photograph Dholma is Her Name, in the category of Portraiture Photography, 68 (Value 13, Clarity 14, Composition 15, Style 13, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score by 2.5275 from social media (Facebook Share 2.025, Tweets 0.5, StumbleUpon Organic View 0.0025, Comments 0), and in total 70.5275.
