Saniar Rahman Rahul was the first winner for ‘Photo of the Month Award’ in June 2010. He was fascinated by seeing his father taking pictures with a camera while his family was in Iraq during his childhood. Later in life, in 1997, while he became very much attached with his profession of ‘graphic design’, Rahul rediscovered the creative side of photography. He started his career as a professional graphic designer in October of 1995, in a pre-press house called Color Scan, which is one of the pioneers in the pre-process printing media in Bangladesh. Saniar’s photograph Baby Indian Silverbills awarded in the Photo of the Day Award in the category of Wildlife Photography, as it scored a solid 72 (Value 13.5, Clarity 13.5, Composition 18.5, Style 13, Skill 13.5) from our international jury of 5. This photographs will be published on Page 2 of our magazine. We will publish a special interview with Saniar Rahman Rahul in the Exclusive Interview section on our website.Based on the social media responses, awarded photographs received on the 51st month, we set the maximum number of Facebook Like at 400, Tweet at 100, Stumble at 1000, and our subscribers Comments at 50. For this month, we had a head-to-head contest between the top scorers and the photographs that scored the highest became winners of the Photo of the Month. Our team decided to honor these top scorers as 2nd and 3rd places with a page in the next issue of our magazine, where the photographers will share their stories of these photographs. Obayda Jamal was born June 02, 1990. He is from Palestine, and currently a 4th year student of physical education. Photography is his passion, and his ambition to become one of the most famous photographers of the world. He has learned Photography via Internet, and practices it every day and experiences everything. Obayda loves traveling, but so far he did not travel any area outside of Palestine other than Saudi Arabia, where he traveled 3 times. Obayda’s photograph A Night with Stars, in the category of Night Photography scored 67.5 (Value 12, Clarity 12, Composition 18, Style 12, Skill 13.5) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. Geothermal Plant, by Mickey Strider
Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Mickey Strider got his first taste of film making by taking first runner up honors at the Baltimore County Film Festival with a stop motion animation short, “The Coo Coo Conspiracy” in 6th Grade. He later studied art at the prestigious Maryland Institute College of Art and an advertising career soon followed. First working as Jr Art Director, Mickey then moved into film production where he worked as an Assistant Cameraman and Assistant Producer on commercials, music videos, films and television shows. Mickey’s photograph Geothermal Plant, in the category of Black & White Photography scored 69 (Value 13, Clarity 13, Composition 17, Style 13, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5, and gains a good position in the competition. Subhashish Nag Choudhury lives in Kolkata and has done his B.Tech in Information Technology. He is currently working as a Team Leader in one of the renowned IT firms in Kolkata.
