Saniar Rahman Rahul was the first winner for ‘Photo of the Month Award’ in June 2010. He was fascinated by seeing his father taking pictures with a camera while his family was in Iraq during his childhood. Later in life, in 1997, while he became very much attached with his profession of ‘graphic design’, Rahul rediscovered the creative side of photography. He started his career as a professional graphic designer in October of 1995. Now he is working as the Art Director of Grey World Wide, one of the ten largest advertising agencies in the world. Saniar’s photograph The Lineated Barbet awarded in the Photo of the Day Award in the category of Wildlife Photography, as it scored a solid 69.5 (Value 13, Clarity 13, Composition 18, Style 12.5, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5. The number of organic and total social share along with the organic reach and comments boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 8.055 from social media (Organic Share 2.79, Total Share 4.63, Organic Reach/View 0.635, and Comments 0), and in total 77.555, the highest score in this competition for the 84th Month. Based on the social media responses and comments, awarded photographs received on the 84th month, we set the maximum number of Organic Social Share at 500, Total Social Share at 1000, Organic Reach 1000, and our subscribers Comments at 50. For this month, we had a head-to-head contest between the top scorers and the photographs that scored the highest became winners of the Photo of the Month. Rob van der Waal was born in 1957 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His father was a passionate photographer who taught him the basics of photography. When he was 7 years old, his family already had a darkroom on the top floor of their family house. His dad was on the edge of what was possible those days, using 2 Leica M3 bodies, and was developing black/white and color films by himself and with some modifications to his equipment, created images of 40x60cm. Apart from his father’s touch and some workshops, Rob van der Waal is an autodidact. Waal’s photograph Spring in Goeree awarded in the Photo of the Day Award in the category of Nature Photography, as it scored a solid 68.5 (Value 12.5, Clarity 12.5, Composition 18, Style 12.5, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5. Born in southern Sweden in 1969, Ola Cedell moved to Melbourne Australia in 1996, then to Aachen Germany in 2001, and returned back to southern Sweden in 2003. Food has been a big part of Cedell’s life, as he always enjoys tasting and trying new things. Besides his engineering career, he has been enjoying amateur photography since 1996. Ola’s photograph Fern in Spring, in the category of Close-up Photography scored a solid 67.5 (Value 12.5, Clarity 12.5, Composition 17.5, Style 12, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5.
