Abhishek Asthana is a coder by profession, which lets him make sufficient money to buy a lens once in a while and sponsor his vacations. He started photography during his school days with a small manual camera which didn’t have flash. Later he started experimenting with monochrome films, since he didn’t have scanner or much idea about editing of photos this experiment was quite limited in nature. Abhishek’s photograph Sun at their feet! in the category of Artistic Photography scored 72 (Value 13, Clarity 13, Composition 18.5, Style 13.5, Skill 14) from our international jury of 5. The number of Tweets and Facebook shares, StumbleUpon Organic Views boosted the popularity of the photograph, raising its score to 10.371 from social media (Facebook Share 2.27, Tweets 4.66, StumbleUpon Organic View 2.441, Comments 1), and in total 82.371. Jon Rendell was born into an auteur/photog family in Melbourne, Australia in 1957; his grandfather owned a Paillard Bolex 16mm movie camera in the 50s and his father always had his Braun 35mm loaded with Kodachrome 25. At age 8 his parents gave him their old Kodak Box Brownie. He paparazzied birthday parties, friends at school, and their vacations. At high school he learned basic darkroom techniques and decided he had to have his own darkroom. His family knew that on certain evenings the kitchen (his makeshift darkroom) was out of bounds. In the 70s he had the sublime pleasure of being tutored by renowned photographer Athol Shmith. He was always captivated by shadows. Jon Rendell ‘s photograph Staircase in the category of Architectural Photography scored 68 (Value 12, Clarity 12, Composition 18, Style 13, Skill 13) from our international jury of 5.
