The presence of a foreigner with a camera arouses special interest among the locals. Street children are omnipresent in the Smokey Mountain region. And they are the ones who first interact with the newcomer. Establishing relationships with adults requires more patience and if it happens, it is usually through children. That is why you must always be prepared for such encounters. Usually a handful of sweets, showing the photos you have taken is enough reason for a short exchange of words, smiles and poses.
