One thing that stands out when exploring the slums around Smokey Mountain in Manila is the number of children living there. I started my tour on a Friday morning, when children would normally be in school. Here, children were everywhere. Which is a sign that they did not attend any school at all. The photo above shows one such child wandering the streets.

The scene of the quarrel and fight unfolded before my eyes. Walking through the streets of the slums, I heard the sounds of some kind of brawl. I ran as fast as I could to see what was happening. It turned out to be a family quarrel that had led to a fight. The furious husband threw himself at his wife with his fists. Fortunately, he was pulled aside in time and it all ended with a few punches.

On the overpass, stranger with diverse lives intersect: a student hurrying to class, an artist finding inspiration, a couple sharing dreams, a family man in a heading home to his wife and kids, or maybe a traveler exploring new horizons. Each step on this walkway tells a unique story, weaving together the rich tapestry of human purpose and connection.
