A Rite of Passage
Do you ever wonder why some food makes us nostalgic? How the fragrance of a curry mixture transports you back to a foreign street in your home or makes you yearn for your mother’s mouth-watering cooking? When we begin to cherish our memories, we remember mama’s special curry, nana’s scrumptious cake, and we feel really proud when handed over these treasured recipes, as if a family secret is revealed. This is like a rite of passage, part of growing up. We treasure those recipes, which we only share amongst family.
Isn’t it wonderful how a meal can make you feel so special? This photo of Cazuela makes me crave for my mom’s very delicious and special prawn curry. Thanks to Luis San Martin (Phoenix, Arizona, USA) for helping me to relive my mom’s wonderful dish!
