Between Love and Hate
There is a very narrow line between love and hate…scientists have proven the same nervous system of the brain is used for expressing both love and hate; although polar opposites in nature. Don’t you sometimes love to hate someone? And doesn’t it occur to you sometimes, how hateful it is to love someone but you still do? Love and hate are intertwined. Shakespeare’s “Othello” is an unusual circumstance of a man who murders his wife. However, Othello’s feelings of hate for Desdemona started as an overwhelming love for her when their relationship began. The connection between love and hate in Shakespeare’s “Othello” is the ugly feeling of jealousy that caused such transformations. The bond becomes such an intense love that it transforms into hate…
But love is always at the core of every emotion; even hate. So, when at the famous bridge “Le Pont des Arts” in Paris where countless lovers frequent to add their padlock, even the padlock with the hate sign evokes love. A deeply rooted love frames the padlock’s hate inscription. Photographer Ali Berrada (Casablanca, Morocco), captures this mystified expression and confronts us with whether hate is real or just another expression of love…
