Checkmate

Once Isaac Asimov said, “In life, unlike chess, the game continues after checkmate.” Think about that. There are so many times I thought I am doomed, with nowhere to go, and life seems to be ceased. But then suddenly I realize that I am still going on. Trying to do new things, to build life. Everybody does that. Don’t you? Think about all those chaotic moments you have survived. Man is born with the instinct of survival.

Life is a lot like chess. You have to watch every step. You have to think two steps ahead. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices. But still where in chess your game is finished after you checkmate, in real life you are not. You go on; you survive.

Suppose it was perfectly certain that the life and fortune of every one of us would, one day or other, depend upon the winning or losing a game of chess. Can you think what chaos it would make, the turns life would take? The photo taken by photographer Bobi Dojcinovski (New York City, New York, USA) compels me to wonder what would it be if life really were like a game of chess…what do you think? Can you imagine?
