Into a Magical Land of Myths
If you travel through Rajasthan, the land of Indian Kings, you feel lost…rainbows filling the sky descend to touch the earth’s surface. The ubiquitous golden sun rays embrace the timeless sand particles transforming everything into an ethereal golden kingdom. Amid this land, dwell a people, subjects of fairy tales…nay they create exotic tales of valour, love, devotion, and a magical land of myths.
The desert represents a landscape between heaven and hell, symbolizing a place of endless possibilities and eternity. This wilderness is a place of alienation and loss, just as an unsheltered solitude stands unprotected in the sun. Moving through the desert, you will find yourself alone from the world, no place to hide, even from yourself. Shrouded in clothes, you are naked under burning sky. Can you imagine a place where you cannot hide from anything…even yourself? We expose ourselves to a vast eternity and bare ourselves in openness…
Photographer Meet Kochar (Phagwara, Punjab, India), captures a beautiful image of the desert in Jaisalmer during dusk and presents us with these overwhelming emotions. Do you agree? Discuss your thoughts…
