Looking at You

I am looking at you or are you looking at me? Can you see inside me? With all the beauty and all the colors that seem to be on fire, are you looking at my darkest thoughts? Even beauty can’t ignore darkness. Or is this what I think? Even in those firefly colors, I find dark voids. In those eyes, I try to see myself. Am I hiding something? What is it that I look for? Eyes can convey many things, but eyes can also hide many things. I feel blue when I look at your dark eyes, can feel my black when you look at my eyes?

Looking at You

Intense Gazer, by Nirupam Roy

Photographer Nirupam Roy (Tufanganj, Coochbehar, West Bengal, India) took the photograph of a Kingfisher with that intense gaze, which makes me wonder about some hard truths of life. We see everything from our perspective. Even an innocent gaze of a Kingfisher can create conflict in our minds. Although we say beauty lies in our hearts, it is the way we use our eyes that lets us feel beauty; don’t you think? Share your thoughts.
